A Case of Strangulated Inguinal Hernia in a Patient Aged 107 Years Treated Successfully by Operations *Erroneosuly spelt later

X Y an old man, alleged to be 107 years ol age was brought by his attendants for a painful swelling in the left Inguino scrotal region. This swelling had been present for the last 65 years and used to get reduced into the abdomen on patients lying down. Since the last 24 hours it had become irreducible and painful; there was vomiting and obstipation. The patient was almost totally blind and deaf and very un-co-operative. His general condition was satisfactory. The blood pressure was 170 mm. Hg. though there was a slight degree of dehydration as judged clinically. An i.v. normal saline in 5% glucose was started and he was operated upon under spinal anaesthesia with procain. The contents were small intestine and trans-
